Amelia Marsden
Who am I?
I am an autistic and ADHD woman with extensive lived experience in mental health services, including psychiatric misdiagnosis and inpatient settings, physical hospital settings and social services. I also have experience of CETR and EHCP processes after receiving one of each as a child. I am a tier 1 and tier 2 approved Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training autistic co-trainer and I have been delivering sessions for 2 years now. One team I work for has been awarded a QACLS certification. My other jobs include expert by experience at a local university and working with a local autism specialist service to deliver lived experience training to their support workers. I am also speaking at a Kent Autistic Trust conference in October 2026 regarding my experience of misdiagnosis and autism informed care, and I have been a simulation facilitator for Aucademy CIC for nursing students to learn how to interact with Autsitic patients.

Beckie
Who am I?
As an AuDHD person, I bring lived understanding of what it actually feels like to navigate a world not built for you. As a parent of an Autistic child with a PDA profile, I’ve spent years advocating for myself and my children within health, education, and social care systems. I pair this with professional depth: 20 years as a researcher at the Tizard Centre, University of Kent, particularly looking at quality support and quality of life for Autistic people and those with a learning disability, during which time I was also involved in facilitating and supporting people with learning disabilities to help with the simulation day at Christchurch university, in order to train the Dr’s of the future. Most recently delivering Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training to Health and Social care professionals as a Tier 2 Facilitating Trainer. I have also worked within adult social care, so I bring a full range of depth and experience.

Fees & Accommodations:

Accommodations:
- I need help moving resources to the training rooms and back to the car
- I need help and setting up the training room (moving chairs/furniture) and returning the room back to how it was at the end of the day
- I need clear information, clear instructions and transparency, otherwise I will get anxious
- I need photos of where I need to go, where I can park and who I will be working with
- I need to be able to park close to the venue. I have a blue badge
- Software to help with time management and planning
- Cut down on background noise
- If I am struggling to process a strong accents so can you please repeat what they are saying to me so that I can answer them
- Due to auditory processing difficulties, if talking with a group of people, I need people to put their hand up before speaking, otherwise I cannot work out where the sound is coming from and it prevents me from listening.
- I experience fatigue, and reading can make me feel exhausted at times. I use text to speech software which means that reading things like policies take me much longer
- I have difficulty retaining information, executive functioning. I struggle with time blindness, and how to break down tasks into manageable chunks.
- I am waiting for an ADHD assessment and also pushing for an Autism Assessment.
- I am waiting for an auditory processing disorder assessment. I struggle hearing if there is background noise or other people talking. I also have difficulty processing some accents, especially if it is a strong accent.

Tim Chapman
Who am I?
I am a late diagnosed autistic and ADHD person, working as a lived experience expert in Kent, London and the wider South East. An award-winning chartered town planner, with a particular interest in public health, I chaired a NICE committee looking at how spatial planning could improve health outcomes.
I work holistically and intuitively to understand a problem or situation. I question and listen. I am equally good at detail and understanding the big picture. I am insightful and focussed, prioritising the critical path and identifying opportunity costs. I am an excellent communicator, both verbal and written. When necessary and appropriate, I challenge hierarchies and conventional ways of doing things.

Toby Thurston
Who am I?
As an Autistic Computer Systems Engineering graduate, who’s incredibly passionate about spreading positivity and knowledge, I often find myself doing creative and unique projects.
I was diagnosed with autism at the age of 21 but knew when I was 7. I also have dyslexia, Irlen syndrome and working for a ADHD diagnosis. I also have chronic muskelete phantom pain within both my arms (this does not effect my ability to work). This gives me a lot of NHS experience as I went on an NHS journey spanning over the ages of 13-19.
What I offer…
- I am an Oliver McGowan T2 Trainer, with great feedback which can be provided upon request.
- Experience with teaching young Autistic adults, through the Be a Leader project.
- I can drive and have a ‘have car, will drive’ attitude.
- I am willing to work towards qualifications.

Accommodations:
- I adapt for my Irlens syndrome and usually manage this myself, I would ask if I need assistance.
- For face to face work I will bring my folding chair which I carry with me.
- I do require things to be explained before hand, with the opportunity for me to ask more questions if I need to.
