If you are Autistic (diagnosed, self-realised or exploring the possibility) Aucademy have a number of different closed Autistic-only groups. Largely these are on Facebook, but we have one group that meet weekly on Zoom, and one Discord server for those age 13 years+.

If you agree with our group rules, you can join the following groups on Facebook (if you don’t use Facebook see further down the page about accessing our Zoom socials, and/or our Discord server):

GROUP RULES:

  1. Be kind and courteous: We’re all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let’s treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required. Use trigger warnings. Do not post inappropriate content.
  2. No hate speech or bullying: Make sure that everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn’t allowed, and degrading comments about things such as race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated.
  3. Identity first language: This group encourages the use of identity-first language (i.e., IS Autistic, not HAS autism). How you identify is up to you but please do not use functioning labels (i.e., “high”/”low”/”Asperger’s”).
  4. No promotion of antivaxx, ABA or Autism $peaks: Promotion of anti-vaccination, ABA “therapies”, or Autism $peaks are not allowed. Healthy discussion and questions about these topics are welcome with the addition of trigger warnings.
  5. Respect everyone’s privacy: Being part of this group requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make groups great, but may also be sensitive and private. What’s shared in the group should stay in the group.
  6. No spam or irrelevant links and use Trigger/Content warnings: Give more to this group than you take. Spamming (or flooding the group with posts) and irrelevant links aren’t allowed. Trigger warnings and content warnings must be used on sensitive topics or links.
    1. Please be mindful of not bringing up any subjects that could be triggering (abuse, death, gun violence, sexual assault, some things can be triggering like discussing the dentist).
  7. Safeguarding: If a member of Aucademy Social discloses that they are self-harming, harming another person, or are considering suicide, we each have a duty to disclose this to the Aucademy team via the chatbox in Zoom or the website contact page.
  8. Reporting: If there’s a problem/you need help with a boundary, report it/PM modmins. You can also get the attention of a modmin by commenting “modmin” or “admin”.
  9. No medical advice: Please do not ask for or deliver medical advice in this social group.
  10. Please keep microphones muted when not speaking.
  11. Please do not eat or vape/smoke on camera during the sessions.

The purpose of the Discord server is to connect with other Autistic people about our specialisations and/or dedicated interests (“special interests”) e.g. Marvel; Doctor Who; Anime; languages etc.

  2. NO PROFANITY (NO SWEARING): The Aucademy Infodump Vaults are meant for Autistic people of any age (13 years and over). We have a strict no swearing rule because of this.
